Why a Website?

Why Do I Need a Website?

Well, you may not need a website in the sense that your business can’t survive without one. It has survived without one so far, so why should you have one now?

Here are some points to consider:

Low cost marketing
Obviously you want to promote your business to increase turnover for increased profits! Advertising helps you do that. Advertising could simply be by word of mouth (cheap) but is not the most efficient. Then there is advertising that you pay for. This could be a sign on your business premises which relies on passing traffic (inexpensive) and has modest success, or you advertise in newspapers and magazines (expensive) with fair results while the paper or magazine is current. Then you bring in the heavy artillery by advertising on TV, and yes you get almost instant results….for the duration of the ad and then it dies in the bum.

24/7
A website provides a continuous presence, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week…no holidays, no overtime, no coffee breaks and no sleeping on the job.

Targeted consumer
The beaut thing about websites is that it they are only looked at by people who actually want your product or service. That is a hundred percent target rate. There is no wastage. You don’t have to pay thousands of dollars by a hit-and-miss mass advertising campaign in the hope that SOME of the people “might” be attracted to what you have to offer. The people on the web actually go looking for you, so if someone is looking for a foo foo valve, they usually enter a search on “Google” and it provides them with a list of foo foo valve suppliers. If your name is not on the list, then you simply have no chance of selling your foo foo valve to that browser.

A Thought for You:

Current research is showing that internet  users are increasing worldwide by nearly
two million new users

 Every month!

News Flash!

According to eMarketer the Internet surpassed 1 billion visitors in December 2008.

These are mind numbing numbers and shows what potential this medium has. Can you afford NOT to tap into this market?

One thing that many first time web owners have trouble coming to grips with is the three little “w’s”.  “www” stands for WORLD wide web. This means that the whole world can view your website and is potentially your customer. Not just your suburb, or your city but the WHOLE WORLD! Scary isn’t it? But that is the potential target of your advertising on the web.

Local market
More and more people who have moved into your neighbourhood, search on the web for local goods and service providers, rather than flip through the phone book. This is becoming more and more popular as people not only use their work computer for personal use but frequently keep their home computer turned on the better part of the day whilst at home, so searching on the web provides quicker and more detailed information than is available in the phone book or local paper.

Scared of the unknown?
Many business owners have baulked at committing funds to something that is alien to them. If you haven’t had a website previously I can understand that it can be very confusing, especially if you talk to a computer geek that loves to use terminology that sounds like a foreign language. At Budget Webs we respect that not everybody is an expert at everything so we won’t try to baffle or impress you with any techno talk.
